Marie Cayabyab (Kai-yub-yub) is a professional engineer who has worked in the civil engineering and design industry for 15 years. She started her journey with a bachelor's in construction technology & management from University of West Florida and worked as a construction administrator/CAD tech for 8 years before returning to school to get a post-bacc B.S.C.E. from Portland State University in Oregon. At Portland State, Marie was an active member and leader of Chi Epsilon, Bridges to Prosperity, and ASCE student chapters. She lived in Raleigh from 2009 - 2011 then returned to North Carolina in 2016. Marie specialized in water/wastewater and has worked for the local municipal agencies, private consulting firms and a non-profit organization in Winston-Salem. Currently, Marie teaches at Salem Academy, an all girls college preparatory high school in Winston-Salem as the Engineering/Math Teacher and STEAM Coordinator. She is enthusiastic about creating space for girls to explore science & engineering careers through hands-on learning experiences and projects.

Fun Fact: One of the microprocessors that Melinda worked on at Qualcomm is now on Mars in the Ingenuity Copter as part of the Perseverance mission.
Bio: Melinda has over 25 years experience in designing high-performance, low-power microprocessors for Intel, Qualcomm, and now Microsoft. She has lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Arizona, but has spent most of her life in NC. She has volunteered in several roles with ENC-SWE over the years and mentored a high school robotics team for 7 years. She has two adult sons, a cat, and a granddaughter.
